Please Take His Phone...

America, America, God shed His grace on thee...

PLEASE take that phone from our POTUS!!!  Now he added insult to injury to Puerto Rico, that is in such suffering right now by saying that, "they want everything done for them", and "they need to do more for themselves"???  And in addition to that, Tweets were shot at their mayor saying that she showed "poor leadership"??? REALLY...  I wonder did anyone say that to him when he filed one of his many bankruptcies to get his personal business finances back in line, and that wasn't due to any natural disaster.

First of all, just why did it take so, so long for help to get there??? This UNITED STATES TERRITORY suffered not one, but two hurricane hits in a row. As of today, it is reported that approximately 50% of water has been returned to service and only FIVE PERCENT of electricity restored. Does our POTUS not get the gravity of the dire situation our fellow citizens are in? He's speaking of people not "helping themselves", well, did he stop to think that many who want to help themselves cannot? Many are quite possibly trying to do what they can for their immediate families (if they even survived to do so) with next to nothing as it is.  We are not only talking about a need to fix up their homes, but the most immediate basic, life-sustaining need for food, water and medications. Because so much had not even come and some is just now coming, I believe that not having those basics would be somewhat a hindrance to them "helping themselves".  How can you help yourself if you don't have the resources to do so. And what about the necessity of utilities such as water service and electricity which are so essential to function.  There are hospitals and other life-sustaining infrastructure and institutions that cannot function because of the lack of these basic utilities and medicines.

Maybe the POTUS thinks that Puerto Rico is some "other country".  It, along with the U. S. Virgin Islands, who, by the way were also devastated, are a part of the United States of America.  It is reported that it's unknown about the kind of reception he will receive on Tuesday when he finally goes for a visit; that is remained to be seen. But aside from all that, I am sure that these Territories want nothing more than a hand up to once again be self sufficient enough to move on to some sense of normalcy.

God bless America AND its Territories.

The Aftermath

Well, our lights are back on, and it has warmed up! Great news, right: yes it is. Yes it is for some. Yes is for people like me, my family a...
